Mission

Lincoln International Academy (LIA) is a Catholic, private, bilingual, co-educational, college preparatory school located in Managua, Nicaragua, serving multicultural students from preschool to 12th grade.  Lincoln was founded in 1991 with a lay apostolic spirituality and the conviction that academic excellence and Catholic formation are intrinsically related.

Lincoln International Academy’s faculty and staff promote a Christ-centered formation — in accordance with the Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, within a safe environment, while fostering academic excellence, technology integration, education in virtues, democratic values and ecological awareness — where students are challenged to reach their full potential and become committed leaders within their community.

Lincoln International Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education.

Vision

Lincoln International Academy fosters Catholic faith-based learning that deeply engages all staff and students in 21st century learning opportunities.

All facets of the learning system — curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, accountability and resource allocation — are in support of 21st century learning.

Students will be creative, critical-thinking global citizens, analysts, communicators and producers engaged in learning that is conceptual and authentic within an inquiry-based environment.

About Lincoln’s Accreditation With SACS Through AdvancED

As of February 2009 Lincoln International Academy is an officially accredited school with SACS through AdvancED. After our latest External Review Visit in October of 2013, LIA continues to be accredited until 2019. Our faculty and staff meet the standards required by AdvancED Standards for Quality. Our curriculum guarantees the quality and excellence of our educational program which meets the requirements of AvancED and the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education. Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools, and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. The accreditation process is also known in terms of its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education. But such definitions, though accurate, are incomplete. While accreditation is a set of rigorous protocols and research-based processes for evaluating an institution’s organizational effectiveness, it is far more than that. Today accreditation examines the whole institution—the programs, the cultural context, the community of stakeholders—to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of students.

It is the process of accreditation that yields the greatest continuing return for institutions. When approached properly, the internal self-assessment an institution conducts against a set of research-based quality standards can produce a wealth of galvanizing insights. Honest self-evaluation is unparalleled in its ability to uncover and bring into sharp focus special challenges for an institution that may not have been fully understood. The external review is the hallmark of the accreditation process, and like the internal self-assessment, it energizes and equips the leadership and stakeholders of an institution or school system to tackle those areas that may be thwarting desired performance levels.lease visit www.advanc-ed.org.

Accreditation is a force-multiplier. The process is a catalyst for transformative excellence, and AdvancED’s accreditation process is designed on a standards-based framework to feed continuous improvement and transform education on a global scale. Education providers of all types around the world use AdvancED Accreditation. Accreditation is inextricably linked to institution and educational system improvement. The accreditation process asks institutions and systems to critically evaluate their vision, strategies, priorities, leadership, and programs and resources. The process of earning and maintaining accreditation provides institutions and educational systems with clear and compelling direction for implementing changes to move toward excellence.

With the rising competition for qualified teachers, there is simply no substitute for a real person able to answer questions, and to talk knowledgeably not only about your school, but also your city, country, and region.
